How outdoor lighting installation works: Lighting starts with a layout plan identifying fixture types and placement for path, accent, area, and structure lighting. Low-voltage wire is trenched and run to each fixture from a transformer sized for the total load. Fixtures are staked or mounted, aimed, and tested for the correct throw and brightness. Timers or smart controllers are programmed so the system runs on schedule without manual operation. Line-voltage installations require licensed electrical work and conduit burial per code.
